Tax treatment

Both apply to invoices raised from now on. Invoices already raised keep the treatment they were raised with — the CIS rate comes from your CIS status in Settings, and the reverse charge is decided once, when the invoice is created.

An end user is the business that will use the building itself, rather than selling the work on. They are charged VAT as usual, so the reverse charge does not apply — and HMRC expects the confirmation to be in writing from the customer, which is what this records.

New invoices to this customer will carry no VAT. The reverse charge applies and they account for the VAT to HMRC.
